Feature Story
Metaverse: Still Loading
A few years ago, the metaverse was everywhere — on magazine covers, in CEO speeches, and in startup pitch decks. It was hyped as the next version of the internet: immersive, persistent, and powered by avatars, NFTs, and VR headsets. Then, almost as quickly, it seemed to fade into the background. But that doesn’t mean it disappeared.
In this article, we unpack what the metaverse really is, how it could become useful in everyday life, and why the most important developments are happening after the hype.
